cherish today : littlest photographer : personal

Finnian received this super sweet camera from one of his favorite friends, Fiona, and it's been by his side every since. It's seriously the coolest camera for littles. I love being a photographer and enjoy adventuring with my little photographer, he's the cutest assistant in all the land. He loves cameras lately and always helps me pack up for shoots. He had the best time at our family portrait session with the ever talented Tara Polly where he even posed Chris and I for a few shots. Who knows if he would want to be a photographer one day, it would be fun for sure. I hope I can help guide and encourage him on whatever path he takes while letting him create his own way. Earlier this week, I asked him what he wants to be when he grows up and he exclaimed with great joy "Astronaut, I'm an astronaut!" I love how he knows what he likes these days. Keep dreaming big little man, the sky is the limit or in this case your goal.

I'm cherishing today with my little astronaut.

Love and Light,
Heather

cherish today : huck finn : personal

My sweet boy turned three this month and he's grown so much lately that I find myself cherishing each moment more than usual. I'm always trying to focus on the here and now, and living a thoughtful and present life, but lately I'm fully embracing this way of life. There's nothing like a little zen master bringing you home to what really matters.

Finnian is three! I have no idea how we got here so quickly. Life truly flies when you're having fun, especially with little ones, so I'm beginning a series of "cherish today." Cherishing those moments that I never want to forget, those moments that aren't staged, aren't perfect but completely perfect at the same time. I hope these personal posts will inspire you to do the same, whether it's on your own blog, with your camera or through snapshots that your heart records, cherish today.

These photos are from a photo shoot I had with dear friends of ours. We were having dinner following the photo session, so Chris and Finn tagged along. As our friends and I were walking to a new spot I looked over my shoulder and there was Chris and Finn having their own adventure. I took a quick little break to visit with my guys while my mama friend nursed her babe. These two, let me tell you, there is no greater joy I have experienced in life than watching my guys together. I thank my lucky stars to have such amazing guys to live my life with.

Lately everything Finn does is an adventure of some kind; he has backstories, characters and narratives in mind when he plays. This is new territory and I'm welcoming it with open arms. It seems as though he turned three and the world opened up to him and he is proudly taking his place in it with his newly harnessed imagination. He proudly tells anyone that he is three years old, with a twinkle in his eye lights up my days. This time of make believe, wonder and joy is super duper special to me.

I'm cherishing today with my little huck finn.

Love and Light,
Heather
